Apps on Wheels project

This is a research project in the Playful Interactions theme. The purpose of this research project is to investigate how automated vehicles should behave in certain situations where normal traffic rules are arguably not appropriate.

By examining peoples experiences and expectations, desired behavior for robots on the road is determined in relation to human driving behavior.

I have learned that a detailed planning helps me to make progress in an individual project.

DQI theory module

This Module has turned out quite differently than expected. Nevertheless it was a very instructive and entertaining experience. The students started a "revolution". During the feedback session the lecturer said that, looking back, he would have given students the choice to go for the original module or the manifest. When I look back, I would have gone for the original module, because it would have helped me much more to develop my knowledge about DQI theory itself. The next time I will make my own decision. For the group I think it was a good idea to start the manifest, but I could not contribute as much as I would have liked, because my knowledge about DQI was insufficient.

The group functioned well. Especially when splitting up in smaller groups we worked efficient. The discussion within the group was mostly led by by the same people, but the quiet people were always listening and expressed points of critique. You need the expressive ones, the listeners and people with different backgrounds to come to a functioning group.

The User Experience module

I am used to think about user experience in a very detailed manner. More an interaction focussed view on how a product feels, looks, sounds. I was never taught about the user experience as an overarching factor in the design process.

This module has been very helpful for developing my teamwork competency.

The participants of this module all worked very well together. The group as a whole as well as my own group. We were very organized in our contact with the client.

The positive feedback from the technicians motivated me to work on a solution to their everyday frustrations. The danger is that the client gets more important than the learning process, but I am satisfied with both the result for the client as well as the gained knowledge about the subject user experience.
